Frida the Witch Doesn’t Like Cats

Frida the Witch Doesn’t Like Cats

A witch, as you know, must always have a cat… but Frida the witch is not happy with that. Frida tries to find a more suitable animal to call her own, but after working her way through a rabbit, a pig, a snake and even an elephant, she realises that maybe cats aren’t so bad after all, and what she really needs is a career change.

Illustrated by Lisa Hand, this book is currently seeking a publisher. Please use the contact form to request a dummy book if you are interested in learning more.

Frida is the first book that Steve wrote. It is currently unpublished, but circulating a draft copy among friends and family caught the eye of super-talented illustrator Lisa Hand, who has created the brilliant pictures you see below. Frida has been seen by around half a million people in the UK, thanks to Steve’s appearance in the semi-finals of Channel 4’s game show Countdown. With Susie Dent absent due to covid and Steve making his 10th appearance of the series, Anne Robinson turned to Steve’s writing as a way to fill time. You can see clips from the show and some of the overwhelmingly positive feedback that it received below. The full episode is available on Channel 4’s on demand service.
